I have no problem admitting that there are several things I can't do. Dance, sing, crochet, play soccer or roller skate, just to mention a few. That doesn't bother me at all (that there are things I don't master), but it does bother me when a person decides to rub it in my face. What does that mean? That you stand above me? I almost feel bullied, even though it sometimes isn't meant that way, but in rather in a jokingly type of way.
Not everyone can sing and dance, and certainly not everyone understand the way an engine works. It's plain disrespectful to look down on someone because he/she can't do a certain thing. It doesn't mean that that person is anything less than you.
I also experience the feeling that I'm not as "important" because I don't have a God. I don't believe that there is a special power up there, and therefore I'm looked down on because of that. Doesn't the Golden Rule say that you should "do to others what you would like to be done to you"? If these people who claim they have faith and respect to their religion, why don't they follow this rule?
The fact that I'm an atheist doesn't mean that I don't have any moral or values. I don't visit the church and eat meat - does that make me anything less "a good human"?
(Hm, I sort of went a little bit off-topic there, I think...)

I hate, hate, HATE 'holier than thou' type people. The only thing that keeps me from flying off the handle is that I know that by the "laws" of their religious books, they will go to hell of pride, vanity and passing judgment where judgment was only to be passed by 'God'. :\ Course, if you ever mention that they scream like whiny little brats that it's not true.
You're no less of a good person than they are and by them telling you that you're not is just proving that they are in fact less than you because it's rude, it's mean and it's not their place to say so.

If everyone could do everything to the same ability, the world would be a crappy and boring place! Even if you can't dance, there will always be hundreds of things that you can do well. Never feel any less worthy of anything becasue some people are feeling higher than you.
In my experiences, the only reason people look down upon you for not being able to do one thing, is becaseu they are jealous that you can do something better than them (I hope that makes sense!)
In terms of your views - everyone is entitled to thier own views. Period. Religion is such a touchy subject I think, and lots of people are not very open-minded about other faiths/ways of life. Never let anyone try to change your views, or let anyone bully you because of your views. xxx

Those who are religious and follow the bible, should very well know that only God will judge us. I'm agnostic, believing in some kind of super natural power, not specifically what the Bible teaches or any religion teaches. So I understand where you're coming from. It is not their place to judge you or anyone else who doesn't believe the same thing, because that would be completely hypocritical.

Hi
It sucks that you're looked down on like that. People don't deserve that. They should see your site - it's awesome! (Let's see how many can do what you can on here
)
. I hope those "religious" ppl don't turn your away from their beliefs. It's stupid that they treat you like that. Tell them to read the Bible once and a while - it teaches you how to act! Anywho, I'm a Christian and it irks me when ppl misrepresent God, pls don't take their actions and put it on every "religous" person.
Ignore them - you have loads of talents - just not theirs. God made you different
OH yea, I can't do any of those things you mentioned either,
.
Lovely site!

yo! a fellow athiest here speaking! those that claim they love god make me wonder what love means or if unconditional love even exists. the more i think about it, the more doubtful i am of their sincerity. even in god's part. they say he loves you always and whatnot...under the condition that you don't commit those sins or that you confess to your sins. otherwise you go to hell. some unconditional love that is. and because of this, people say god is to be loved and feared. oh the contradition...love from fear is no true love. damn the more i think about it, the more i want to say to him, "be grateful that you i don't acknowledge your existence". i'll stop there before i get nastier.
but yeah i understand that your post isn't about criticizing the god-loving folks, but rather about how you're annoyed by their condescending attitudes. people like that are everywhere. just ignore them. be proud of what you can do.

And how!
As in, I absolutely agree.

I'm an agnostic/atheist simply because science can not yet disprove God but deep down I know that I'd be kidding myself if I believed in a higher power. But you're right, we have morals too! I simply choose to believe in my own unique set of morals and standards and I believe it is wrong to live one's own life by morals imposed by an external body! And I'm not the singing, dancing type either. I just figured I'm better made for art or the piano.

It's simple, really. Some people feel superior by pointing other people's "faults", even if those are not relevant or important.
I had no idea people dislike atheists so much. I was raised by atheists and I can assure you all my parents insisted on ethic and moral values. It has nothing to do with religion.

Atheist here too! Ugh, those people make me so mad. Seriously, if you want to believe a made believe powerful person that really does nothing, sure go ahead, but I don't want to hear about it. And I certainly don't need your scorn just because I don't believe in that stuff.
Haha, there are these people who just can't live without rubbing it in your face. I'm considered one of the 'smart' people at my school, and whenever someone gets a mark better than me, they go up to me and says 'HEY LOOK AT THIS, I BEAT YOU~' I got used to it a long time ago. Instead of glaring and walking away, I just laugh with them and say good job. Some people just don't do that though, and it's nice. I find that most of my friends are like that, haha. We're very competitive... intellectually.

I can't sing or dance either..I reallyyy don't know how to move my body at all, not even one dance! LOL. I can understand how someone would be a bitch about it.. I mean, if I can't dance, so what? Why don't you teach me then instead of acting like you're better?
Lol, I also don't have a religion. I'm agnostic, until I get some proof that there's a superior being..

Oy, I really hate people like that. I know I have a close friend (ironically) who tends to do the same thing to me occasionally, and at first, I'd get annoyed, but now I just attribute it to the fact that maybe she's just really competitive and insecure. But still, people need to learn to respect others.

I totally agree. I myself am bad at sports, and there is a girl at my school who ISN'T particuarlly good at sports herself, but she keeps on rubbing in my face that I'm not good at it.
I mean, you're not good at it either! Why are you teasing me if you're the same? Hypocrite.
Enough about the ranting
So how have you been lately? How's school?
Happy early Chinese New Year
I'm Chinese, so...yeah. I know you are too,

I do not have a religion at all, and I won't till there's proof about all the "religious characters' exsist. >.> It's rather stupid that you should have a religion, it's just a matter of your own insanity, and fear of death. That' all there is to it, if you think about it.
I can sing, but I can absolutly not dance. I will fall and possibly crack my head open in the process. But it's mean to be piqued that you can't do the things that others can. Everybody has their weaknesses and strengths.

I can crochet and sing but can't do much else...
Oooo I freaking LOVE your smilies!!
Posted on February 22nd, 2010
Ohh I hate that too. But you are extremely good at other stuff too. You're uber-smart, for example. And you can also play the piano.
