Not so exotic

We all have heard it at least once in our lifetime: "Go take a shower (you smell)!"

It's almost funny how most teenagers seem so obsessed with beauty products, both girls and boy. Hair gel, perfume, make-up and all sorts of lotions. But all these items are only a thick layer of mud and fog that covers your true skin - and body odour.

It's hard to explain the logic behind this. "We're too busy to take a shower, but we have time enough to spend 45 minutes every morning trying to cover our body smell?" It doesn't make any sense. Of course, not all teenagers think and do like this. I'm talking about the majority of the people in my classroom.

The worst days are probably on the test days where all the pupils (about 30) have to sit in a cramped classroom for four hours straight. You can really smell the different scents of perfume, spices, hair products and feet. Most pupils have different cultures at home, so therefore my classroom has many, many different smells. It can be of food, traditional perfume/smoke or even breath.

I don't mind - everyone has a special smell. But you know you are doing something wrong (or forgot to do something) when your hair smells like feet bathed in strawberry vomit. Whatever you do, you can't cover something nasty with something sweet. The nasty will always "shine" through.

Well, it's true. Some people just smell horrid. Absolutly dreadful. There's this girl named Tasha in my grade, and she smells like DRUGS! And I'm not even in high school yet. Gosh, she seeems like a nice person and all, but would she take a shower? Her hair's all oily and droopy to the point that I repluse to go next to her. And her body smell.. would she try deoderent?

Since my school's fairly big, I don't really smell much except for my certain friends who wear way too much perfume.

I, on the other hand, take a shower every day; except on the days where I'm uberly busy that I work till 11PM. If I do, I try to clean it up the next day. I just spritz on some body spray(from Bath and Body Works that smells like Mango Mandrin) or perfume(Japanese Cherry Blossom, which is kind of ironic because I'm Chinese). I don't wear deoderent, because the oder just doesn't happen in my family line. :D

yea i totally agree. i guess it is a good thing i wont have to worry about dealing with people like that.

i hate it when i see girls come in with "cake faces" every morning at class. its such a pain. i wear some mascara, blush, and eyeshadow and that is literally all i wear. i dont like wearing a large amount, it feels like mud on my face. ew. if im going out on a date or something i spritz a little perfume but thats about it :3

LOL wow...sorry you have to put up with that esp. on those test days...the last ting we need on a test day is distractions caused by the smell.

shower + deodorant is really all we need actually [i think]. btw i like the pun at the very end of the post xD

A good shower and a simple deodorant are a lot better than 'covering up' with make-up and profumes; the nasty will always come up indeed!
Though it's not even right to bash people when they smell after hours and hours of classes, of course you can't odour like a blossomed flower then! xP And yet, some people make fun of others like that. I experienced it in the past, at age 16; it hurts a lot. Though they were right about one thing: I needed to use deodorant together with the shower. :) When I did, the problem stopped. LOL.

Well said. -claps-
It's even worse when there's no aircon in those rooms and the teacher just has a fan blowing around the hot smelly air. ._.

I tend to sit nearest the door for just this reasons because if I get lucky enough, a fresh breeze will come in an save my nose from the smell of Ass(Axe) and Britney Spear's or whatever that smelly crap is that these little girls are wearing. -vomit-

Boy, have I been in your shoes. I think elevators are the worst place to experience those kinds of smells. You might be in there for only a few minutes. But the heat. And the odors. And the close contact... Bleh. Some people just don't have good hygiene.

If it's a friend, I'll pull them aside and kindly say something. But not to a complete stranger.

That sucks that you have to sit in such a smelly classroom. Here where I live we're not allowed to wear scented products in the public schools so you don't really have that problem of perfume overload. But as for BO, I hear it's really bad in the summer with the adolescent males.

I'm very thankful to say that I have never done this. I shower and don't use other products to cover up if I feel like I might smell. If I feel smelly, I take a shower. :P

In one of my classes on just one day, this girl sat next to me and the scent of her perfume was overpowering! I could smell her from several feet away and hated it when she sat next to me. I thought everybody knew that if you can smell your own scent, you've put too much on.

I agree completely! Some people smell real bad and sometimes their BO overpowers anything they use to try and get rid of that smell. I take a shower every single day and sometimes twice a day. If I skip a day, I feel really icky and I hate it! Luckily, I don't have BO - I never have to use any type of deodorant D: I was complimented for smelling good one day at the mall - I don't use any body sprays or perfume or anything :O
