Sound pollution

I was mending my bike yesterday when a boy, probably around ten-eleven, walked by. He had a phone which he apparently wanted to show off to everyone, with the typical rap-R&B song on. Did I mention "on full blast"? It was so loud, I could hear every single word the dodgy electric-techno voice was saying (I have my doubts if it was human).
I mean, sure, you're more than welcome to let your folks know what sort of music you are into. But literally forcing it on people - who are complete strangers - is plain disrespectful.
He even turned the volume up. While I was right there beside him, minding my own business.

And let me add: It wasn't even a "good" song. oMo

The worst case scenario is most likely when you're in the elevator with some person having a foreign song in a different language on full blast. The longest elevator-trip ever.

Let's talk about people on the subway, shall we. Why, oh why on Earth, do you put your earphones to the loudest? They are earphones! To be put in your ears! If you want every single person around you to hear your stereotype "love-hate" song, why don't you put it on speaker? (Not that I encourage it.)
I can't imagine what their ears must go through to handle such a ridiculously high volume.

No, I changed my mind: The worst case scenario is when your neighbour is clearly having a party in the middle of the night, with a foreign song on so loud even your pillow shakes to the beat.

P.S. Today is 9th of September, 2009 - 09-09-09. Enjoy your Wednesday.

It rained today

I was just thinking: Is it better to run through the rain or walk with normal speed?

I always find myself either running or walking extremely slow. Nothing in between. Sometimes the stubborn person in me doesn't want to get all soaked, other times I decide I want to be lazy.
If you run, you'll splat muddy water all over your pants, shoes and back, but if you walk you'll get wet. But really, do you get less wet when you run or walk? I'd love to try, but I can't seem to collect the correct data (sweaty armpits and such...).

Say you were about to come home from school with your rucksack on, and it suddenly begins to rain. Then you notice that you've forgotten to bring an umbrella with you.
What do you do: Run as fastest as you can back home, or walk like nothing happened hoping your books won't be ruined?
